INTRAH

  • PRIME Family Planning/Reproductive Health Clinical Skills Curriculum Development Sourcebook (working title)
    This trainers’ reference will be a composite of several INTRAH field-tested performance-based comprehensive FP clinical curricula, expanded to incorporate selected areas of reproductive health care. It will emphasize a life cycle approach to providing integrated FP/RH services. The document will contain elements that can be adapted and used as a basis for developing curricula, such as jobs and tasks of the training graduate, training objectives, content outline, suggested training methods, materials and evaluation methods, sample pre/post training skills assessment tools, and reference lists. Distribution of the printed curriculum sourcebook may be limited. It will also available on computer diskette for ease of adaptation. The working English edition is expected to be completed by the end of 1996; other language editions will follow. It will remain a working document, to be updated and adapted as needed.
  • List of Free Materials in Reproductive Health
    The List of Free Materials in Reproductive Health is an annotated bibliography of materials available free of charge to individuals and organizations in developing countries. The sixth edition was published in 1994, containing over 840 entries. The seventh edition is being reorganized into the following sections: overview of reproductive health, family planning, maternal and newborn health, reproduction and sexuality, STDs/RTIs/HIV/AIDS; family and community health; gender; population and the environment; economic and community development; and information sources. Postal addresses, e-mail addresses, telephone numbers and fax numbers will be provided for obtaining materials included in the List (materials are not available from INTRAH). The seventh edition is planned to be issued in English, French and Spanish in mid-1996. An Internet version is being considered.
  • Recommendations for Updating Selected Practices in Contraceptive Use: Volume II (Technical Guidance/Competence Working Group) This document will contain recommendations for procedural steps in providing contraceptive methods not covered in Volume I, and other related topics. Its intention is to provide guidance for persons and organizations who are developing, updating or revising family planning procedural and service guidelines. For each recommendation, the scientific rational will be given and the supporting research will be cited. USAID, many Cooperating Agencies and technical resource persons are contributing to the document, with INTRAH organizing its development. It is expected to be published in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish in early 1997.
  • The Menstrual Cycle and Its Relation to Contraceptive Methods: A Reference for Family Planning Trainers (working title)
    This trainers’ reference will cover the changes that take place during the menstrual cycle and the ways in which contraceptive methods interrelate with the cyclic changes. It will also contain 20-25 sample client cases demonstrating how knowledge about changes in the menstrual cycle can be applied to management of FP clients’ concerns. The English edition is expected to be completed in mid-1996; the French edition will follow; a Spanish edition is being considered.
